About Todd Handelman

I am a licensed clinical social worker who has been helping clients for over 30 years respond to challenges and capitalize on opportunities throughout their life cycles. My approach is to partner with clients to develop skills, insight and strategies to cope with life’s demands and stressors. Combining my years of experience with a caring approach, I help clients maximize their current coping strategies and resources as well as develop new ways to effectively respond to what feels difficult to manage. By creating a supportive, active partnership with clients, I help them achieve improved functioning across all areas of life.

If you are having difficulty coping with some of life’s challenges and your previous coping methods are no longer as effective, I would like to help you develop new strategies to meet these demands. I welcome the opportunity to help you get where you’d like to be.

My extensive experience as a clinical social worker and therapist includes 13 years as a high school counselor, crisis intervention specialist, concussion management program founder and supervisor, as well as the clinical supervisor for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals’ employee counseling/assistance program . I have worked with diverse populations, including active-duty military/veterans, athletes, professionals, middle school, high school and college age students and adults of all ages. I am a lifelong native of the Washington Metropolitan area and have coached youth soccer at the club and high school levels. In my spare time I enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle that includes a passion for mountain biking. I am married and the father of a college aged son.
